  • Adaptation to climate changes is an important path to strengthen the construction of ecological civilization, to build a beautiful China and to promote high-quality development. To effectively and actively adapt to climate changes is a major concern in sustainable development of the city. Xiong’an New Area is a city under construction, being typical and exemplary to carry out adaptation to climate changes, which is conducive to reducing adverse effects of climate change under the background of global warming. In this paper, prediction of climate change situation of Xiong’an New Area made by experts and scholars is summarized, it is found that Xiong’an New Area faces climate risks such as high temperature, rainstorm and flood. In the future, Xiong’an New Area may face some critical problems. With large-scale population increase and update of the industrial layout, these key problems may include: increased population exposure degree, limited water resource carrying capacity, and insufficient adaptation to climate changes. The construction of Xiong’an New Area should follow the strategic positioning of the “millennium plan”, formulate adequate strategies to adapt to climate changes, and emphasize the people-centered principle. A collaborative governance mechanism should be built to adapt to climate changes, and to enhance the adaptability to climate changes.
