The construction and practice of the experiment and fieldwork courses for the major of natural resources and environmental science

  • Based on the twenty years practice, the paper summarizes the experiment and fieldwork courses for the major of resource and environmental science at Beijing Normal University. The courses consist of five modules, i.e., the resource science theory courses practice module, the resource monitoring technology courses practice module, the fieldwork courses module, the major training courses module, and the independent practice module. The practical methods include laboratory experiment, computer experiment, campus fieldwork, short distance fieldwork, and summer fieldwork, which run through the undergraduate four years. It is a hierarchical, multi module, and progressive practical training system. The practical courses require strong support from the hardware platforms, including the teaching laboratories, and the fieldwork bases. The teaching paradigms can be summarized as bidirectional practical training, research-based practical training, and free exploring practical training. In the design of practice training courses and implementation of teaching paradigms, emphasis is placed on cultivating students' hands-on ability, new technology application ability, research ability, innovation ability, and teamwork ability under the guidance of interests.
