Abstract: Using the visualization tool Cite Space 6.2.R4, this study comprehensively examines the publication trends, author collaboration networks, journal distribution, and research hotspots and frontiers in CGE model-based studies on low-carbon transition. It also compares and discusses the differences between China and other countries in using CGE models to analyze low-carbon transitions, explores the opportunities for China in this area, and outlines the prospects for applying CGE models in the field of low-carbon transition. The research findings indicate that, firstly, from 2013 to 2023, the number of publications experienced two phases of slow growth and rapid growth. Currently, the use of CGE models to study low-carbon transition has become a prominent research hotspot. Secondly, related studies are published in core journals across multiple disciplines such as economics, environmental science, and energy, indicating widespread attention to this research. Research teams are relatively stable, with significant collaboration among institutions, and universities and research institutions in China and Japan have emerged as pivotal forces. Thirdly, research hotspots are focused on the impacts of carbon emission reduction policies, renewable energy development, and pathways to carbon neutrality on socio-economic aspects. The emerging research frontiers include power sector transformation and comprehensive assessment of carbon reduction benefits. Fourthly, significant differences exist between China and other countries in using CGE models to study low-carbon transition. These differences primarily manifest in data availability, policy environments, and energy structures. In the future, the development of CGE models should increasingly focus on social equity, technological advancement, and interdisciplinary collaboration to address evolving research demands and the complexities of the economic environment.
