Abstract:
The School of Natural Resources at the Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University, is a renowned institution in China for teaching, research, and social services in land resources and regional development. Over the past 30 years, research in land resources and regional development at Beijing Normal University has evolved alongside national strategic needs and international scientific frontiers. Through continuous development and innovation over these three decades, the university has not only deepened its foundational research in areas such as land use/cover change but also conducted extensive theoretical and practical studies across multiple fields, including urban-rural land resource utilization transformation, landscape sustainability, optimal land resource allocation, and regional sustainable development. At the same time, it has actively responded to national strategic demands, pioneering applied research in areas such as rural revitalization, territorial spatial planning, and natural resource property rights. This work has resulted in a series of high-level research outcomes that have provided significant scientific support for national natural resource management, contributing to the promotion of urban-rural sustainable development and regional high-quality development. Looking forward, research on land resources and regional development at Beijing Normal University will focus on the systematic, interdisciplinary, and applied nature of the discipline. It will continue to address national strategic needs and scientific frontiers, while strengthening both international and domestic cooperation and exchange, in order to make even greater contributions to natural resource management and regional high-quality development in China.
