Abstract:
Information on crop areas and other agricultural conditions serves as a crucial reference for agricultural policy formulation and the optimization of agricultural resource allocation. Since 2003, Beijing Normal University has collaborated with multiple research institutes and enterprises to innovate and apply multi-dimensional and multi-scale remote sensing statistical survey technology for major crop areas. After more than a decade of dedicated research and technological breakthroughs, a new generation of air-space-ground remote sensing survey technology systems for crop area statistics has been innovatively developed. This system has overcome key technical challenges such as the fine identification of crops using multi-source data, the integration of statistical sampling with remote sensing measurements for crop area estimation, and the development of spatial sampling techniques for statistical surveys and authenticity verification of crop area statistical products. Additionally, a new protocol and operational system for remote sensing survey of major crop area statistics have been designed. The relevant research results have been widely applied in national agricultural statistical survey operation, and have supported the remote sensing measurement of crop areas in the third national agricultural census, realizing a technological upgrade from “human-based” to “land-based” crop area statistical surveys.
