Abstract:
This article reviews the rich achievements in the construction of the natural resource discipline at Beijing Normal University (BNU) over the past 30 years, focusing on various aspects including faculty development, talent training, curriculum system constrction, scientific research, and social services. The research team in the resource discipline has made significant contributions in areas such as natural resource investigation and monitoring, mechanisms of resource formation and evolution, resource development and utilization, ecological protection and restoration, as well as land resource planning and management. However, with the advancements of the times, this discipline faces challenges in faculty development, research transformation, social services, and talent training. There is an urgent need to respond to the new requirements for the development of natural resource disciplines in the new era. By leveraging the interdisciplinary, comprehensive, and applied characteristics of the discipline, it is essential to achieve breakthroughs in discipline integration and innovative integration. This will actively support national strategies such as ecological civilization, green and low-carbon development, and rural revitalization, thereby making important contributions to the construction of the BNU’s first-class disciplines in “Geography” and “Remote Sensing Technology and Science”.
