The role of CHIP in disease

Abstract: Carboxyl terminus of Hsc70-interacting protein (CHIP), also known as STIP1 homology and U-box containing protein 1 (STUB1), is a co-chaperone protein with E3 ubiquitin ligase activity. CHIP is known to regulate both physiological and pathological processes (cell metabolism, differentiation, proliferation, migration, and tumorigenesis) via protein quality control pathway. This review summarizes the role and molecular mechanism of CHIP in cancer and non-malignant diseases, with implications for clinical treatment and drug development.
