Abstract: At the point of the 100 years’ foundation of the discipline of biology at Beijing Normal University, this brief review presents the early contribution of researchers at BNU towards the conception of Golgi apparatus as distinct calcium stores． The current field is outlined, with description of major functional proteins such as secretory pathway calcium pumps (SPCA), and calcium-releasing channel of Golgi anti-apoptotic protein (GAAP)．
